During apprenticeship Art Espenet Carpenter, who is featured in the Smithsonian for multiple pieces of work, handed down the knowledge of how to create his famous Wishbone Chair. This was a perfect chair to learn many traditional fine woodworking techniques.
The chairs legs are cut into laminations, steam bent to a custom jig and glued together to strengthen throughout so there are no weak points. The seat is assembled with a dove tail lap joint not as commonly used in furniture making today as is it a traditional technique that provides additional strength and wrapped in oiled tan leather hide.
